So many...brands

People believe that D&G is just an abbreviation from Dolce&Gabbana. I realize that few people actually know details about this two.
The true is that there is a difference between D&G and Dolce & Gabbana. For both collections the designers are Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. They have 3 trademark brands - Dolce & Gabbana, also known as Dolce & Gabbana Black & White Main Line; D&G and the Freetime collection.
So D&G is like the cheaper, street version of Dolce & Gabbana. Besides of the price difference there are also 2 different collection.

There are also some others brands that may confuse you:
Let’s take Armani….We have here: Giorgio Armani, Armani Collezioni, Emporio Armani, Armani Jeans, Armani Exchange, Armani Junior and Armani Casa.

And don’t get me started on the Ralph Lauren lines. There’s just so much Ralph Lauren to choose from. We have Ralph Lauren, Polo Ralph Lauren, RLX, Big&Tall, Ralph Lauren Golf, Black Label, Blue Label, Lauren, Pink Pony, Polo Jeans Co. and Rugby.
There are of course other examples: Versace and Versus; Max Azria and Herve Leger by Max Azria; Just Cavalli and Roberto Cavalli; Moschino and Moschino Cheap&Chic; Marc by Marc Jacobs and Marc Jacobs and many others.

Actually most fashion houses have more diffusion line. The first line sets the tone for the house. For some labels it is a haute couture collection, for others it is a ready to wear collection. This line is always the most expensive. The second line is an extension of the first , a more younger and wearable line. If there is a third line it will generally be a more casual collection.
